Pain Management Tip that worked instantaneously
Interesting lunch with a Neuropsycho Prof
Hey readers, as you know, I suffer from chronic pain due to herniated discs – L4/5 and C3/4. It’s been a painful journey.
Thought to share this technique I had discovered for pain management through an Interesting lunch with a Neuropsycho field Prof.
Transcript as per memory:
Me: “I have unbearable days where I am in so much pain and can’t get out of bed.”
Prof: “Think of a happy feeling, what does it feel like? Put a colour to it, put a colour to it, what is the colour?”
Me: “hmm.. white and fluffy” (thinking of my cute pup)
Prof: “ok, white and fluffy, think about putting it on a dial, from 1 – 10. How happy do you feel when you think about white and fluffy?”
Me: “hmm.. 7?”
Prof: ok, now close your eyes. Let’s dial it up to 8, focus on the feeling.
Me: … (focusing on the feeling)
Prof: ok, let’s turn it up and dial it up to 9.
Me: …
Prof: expand on the white and fluffy, feel it spread across all your body. Let’s dial it up to 10. How do you feel?
Me: “wow” (the pain is gone)
*If you don’t have a very imaginative mind, it is best to have a partner to do this together, to verbalise the journey for you!
